Ferreting out fossils for the 7×7 Award

The blogosphere has been ripe with mango fantasies. (see here for instance) But I see no sign of relief yet. All we get here in our local market are green mangoes which Ma uses for chutney. They are sour and chutney isn’t something I particularly like. Anyhow, until this summer decides to shower us with sweet, golden delights, I have had a mini gift of another kind – the 7*7 blogging award! Novroz, the adorable one with the adorable pet turtles, very sweetly passed it on to me but like everything else in life, it comes with baggage.

7x7award

First up, we have the rules:

1: Tell everyone something about yourself that nobody else knows.

2: Link to a post I think fits the following categories: The Most Beautiful Piece, Most Helpful Piece, Most Popular Piece, Most Controversial Piece, Most Surprisingly Successful Piece, Most Underrated Piece, Most Pride-worthy Piece.

3: Pass this on to 7 fellow bloggers.

Okay, so the something about myself part. Some day, I want to see the aurora borealis. I want to sit under the dark night sky, with R’s arms around me, and watch spellbound as the lights dance up and around us.

*Link Fest Ahead Alert*

This tag gives the once-in-a-blue-moon chance to be all smug about your own blog. Also the fun in browsing through old posts and re-living if only for a few moments, the very day, just as it was. Here are my picks for the given categories.

The Most Beautiful Piece:

One Mussoorie summer, when I rode into the sunset…One Mussoorie summer, when I rode into the sunset…

Mussoorie has beautiful sunsets. And beautiful horses. When I first went there with Mom and Dad, all excited about my first ‘hill station’, we met Roshan. His horsy memories have forever remained fresh in my mind.

Most Helpful Piece:

Murder in the Water Filter

Murder in the Water Filter

Indiblogger and Crusade Against Chlorine’s contest got me in research mode about water filters. Considering the neat pen I ended up winning, it seems well worth the effort. 😀

Most Popular Piece:

Beauty, over the agesBeauty, over the ages

Mom. For all she stands and means to me. Managing to be beautiful all the while.

Most Controversial Piece:

A morning @ Dhobi Ghat and I decided I do my laundry betterA morning @ Dhobi Ghat and I decided I do my laundry better

Dhobi Ghat garnered several artsy reviews. It also garnered some less artsy ones on this humble little place.

Most Surprisingly Successful Piece:

Hey Darling!Hey Darling!

A morning in Pune and my first tryst with the foot-tapping song from 7 Khoon Maaf. It brought to my mind the darlings that I am familiar with and what do you know, they rose to instant fame. 😀

Most Underrated Piece:

Rain in PuneRain in Pune

When it rains in Pune, the skies turn haunting. You cannot look away. This rainy rhyme was written on one such afternoon and it always brings to my mind the beautiful memories I have of the city.

Most Pride-worthy Piece:

“A Fleeting Stay”: Rambo Circus leaves Pune“A Fleeting Stay”: Rambo Circus leaves Pune

I still remember the evening when I saw Rambo Circus packing up. Whether it was the expression the circus people had on their faces or the stillness of the moment, I don’t know. But this piece is special to me because it gave me a whole new muse for the place. Every day life. Thus, it has henceforth been.

Novroz, this was hands down one of the best tags I have got. What fun to ferret out old posts and reminisce about the moments that were! The nice person that I am, I am passing over this award to not just seven but nine people. 😀

Pixie, Sukanya, Rituparna, Deeps, Usha Di, Bikram, Priya, Ajay, Anita

For the uninitiated, these are people who write on themes as diverse as chalk and cheese. We have food experts and people who can spin the most mundane of items into delectable dishes. We also have people whose opinions and observations about the world around us make for spectacular reading. Poets, teachers, adventure enthusiasts, homemakers, travellers. I eagerly look forward to link fests and the chance to read their favourite posts which I might have missed out on earlier. 🙂
